TeacherTube
OK, you think YouTube is fun, but not educational. I only half agree with you, but rather than argue, I'll say check out TeacherTube.
The site launched this past March and without much "advertising" is building a library of teacher & student created videos intended to be used in classrooms.
You won't be wowed by the video quality, and many of the topics are small, simple things, but what I like most about this for now is the idea of creating a place for this kind of video.
Do we need to still convince educators that there is value to using video in class? The TeacherTube blog did something early on about using video in class. Here are some justification links:
- California Technology Assistance Project
- Research Indicates that Using Video in the Classroom Improves Learning
- Using
Video in the Classroom - http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showStory.cfm?ArticleID=5597
- Using video effectively from KQED
Samples: Making bar graphs using Excel, or a 3 part series on using blogs.
I'll be interested to see where this site goes in 6 months or a year.
