Back to School Apps for Students

Their list includes:
Evernote - a note taking application that includes things like being able to take a picture of the whiteboard in a lecture with your phone, uploading it to their server, and it becomes instantly searchable.
Google Notebook and Documents and Zoho as MS Office alternatives.
For extensive bibliographies or dissertaions, Endnote might be the choice, but Zotero is a good free alternative, especially for smaller research projects (technically not a web app since its a Firefox extension)
For a bibliography, they can use EasyBib, and for a a quick bibliography entry for a book, there's OttoBib - enter the ISBN number and get a formatted citation.
Time management lessons - Google Calendar integrates with GMail, syncs with Outlook, lets you import/export.The oddly titled Remember the Milk can also help you stay on track with tasks, assignments and life.
Read/Write also suggests students use Rate My Professors. You decide if that makes your list. The same might be said for using Meebo as a universal IM client (supports AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Jabber, and Google Talk)
