Pearson Leaving the LMS Market

Pearson is leaving the LMS market. Last fall they announced they would stop supporting one of its learning maanagement systems, OpenClass, as of January 2018. And more recently the company told colleges using LearningStudio that it would also be leaving that LMS behind in 2018.

Pearson said they will help LearningStudio and OpenClass customers transition to other systems.

LearningStudio, launched in 2009, is a product of two earlier acquisitions, eCollege and Fronter. eCollege was also the main technology behind OpenClass.

It is not clear what will be the fate of EmbanetCompass which Pearson acquired in 2012 as a way for colleges to move courses and programs online.
