Work Friendly

For the weekend:
At work, do you sometimes look at some websites that are not really work-related? Want to make the site look more work-friendly in case someone ses your monitor?

Go to the Workfriendly.net website and enter the website's URL that you want to view and they will "scrape" it for you. It will be reformatted as text and links in what looks like a regular old Word document. Now it looks much more legitimate. It's also an interesting way to get a plain version of a web page for printing or whatever.

The tech behind it: Screen scraping is a technique in which a computer program extracts data from the display output of another program. What distinguishes screen scraping from regular parsing is that the output being scraped is intended for viewing rather than for machine interpretation. Screen scraping is also known as data scraping, data extraction, web scraping, page scraping, web page wrapping and HTML scraping.
